Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Malmö

Check in to the centrally located hotel. Make you will have time for some sightseeing in this medieval town by the ocean.
Malmö is well-known for the diversity of its food culture, which includes everything from Michelin- rated restaurants to excellent street food. As Sweden’s unofficial falafel capital, at least one meal here is a must. At Ribersborg Beach, popularly known as “Ribban”, there is a wonderful boardwalk and a venerable old bath house. From here, it’s not far to the most well-known landmark of the city, the 54-storey Turning Torso. Malmö is a world-class biking city, so explore Malmö, enjoying the diversity, parks, open-air markets and more.

Day 2 Malmö – Copenhagen - Helsingør: 49,5 km (56 km)

We suggest an early start today since you have a lot to experience. Take the bike onboard the train to Copenhagen. Start a nice city tour and pass the cosy harbour Nyhavn. Continue cycling out to Langelinje and visit The Little Mermaid. After this you’ll leave Copenhagen passing Hellerup and Tuborg Harbour. Once you’ve left a vibrant Copenhagen you’ll pedal along the coast and soon you reach Klampenborg. Here, we strongly recommend you to leave the bike path and bike through the fantastic The Deer Park ”Jaegersborg Dyrehave”. You’ll pedal peaceful gravel roads among oak trees, with a high chance to see Deer. Continue along the beautiful coast path and pass long beaches and small villages such as Rungsted and Humlebaek. You can visit Karin Blixen museum in Rungstedlund and/ or famous Louisiana museum in Humlebaek. Continue to Helsingör and check in at your hotel for the night.

Day 3 Helsingør - Helsingborg – Arild: 40 km (34 km)

After breakfast you take the Ferry (20 minutes) to Helsingborg in Sweden. You’ll pedal north, passing Sofiero Castle with its’ stunning garden – nominated the most beautiful in Europe in 2010. The route continues up towards Höganäs and out to the gorgeous, rocky landscape of Kullahalvön peninsula. We suggest that you’ll bike out to the charming coastal village Mölle. Have your lunch or pic-nic in Mölle or park your bikes and walk a couple of km along the fantastic! coastal trail out to Ransvik for lunch and back. After this you’ll continue a few km on the countyside to the lovely Arild where you’ll spend the night. Accommodation in Arild area (or Mölle if Arild is fully booked)

Day 4 Arild – Ängelholm: 36 km (29 km)

Today we suggest that you bike from Arild through the little picturesque harbour of Arild, then up on gravel paths into Kullaberg nature reserve. Just a few km but some elevation to climb up through the fields and forest. The nature is stunning so it is well worth the effort. Park the bike and make a hike to the strange, stunning and famous wooden sculpture ”Nimis”. It is only a few km hike but hard due to the elevation and difficult terrain. Note that Nimis is built without permission so the authorities haven’t secured the path, so visit is at own risk. After visit at Nimis, bike the few km the same way back to Arild and then continue along the coast to Ängelholm. Here you’ll pass nice small villages and beaches and cafés. Overnight is in Ängelholm. Todays ride is 36 km, but possible to shorten to 29 km if you skip to bike up to Nimis. The Nimis hike is 3,5 km and -150 m, +150 m elevation.

Day 5 Ängelholm – Helsingborg: 34 km

Todays ride is quite short and flat, so an easy day in the saddle, and you can make sure to enjoy the beautiful, medieval town of Helsingborg in the afternoon. You will cycle inland along the farming fields and very small villages, such as Kattarp and Hittarp. You’ll ride both on cycle paths and on small, nice country roads towards Helsingborg. A few km before Helsingborg you’ll reach Pålsjö Forest Nature Reserve. We suggest that you park the bikes and stroll the park/ small forest, maybe you’ll enjoy a nice Waffle at the waffle café.
After Pålsjö forest you’ll reach the sea again, and bike a few km in to Helsingborg. If the weather is nice the boardwalk before Helsingborg is very nice to bike or walk in a slow pace, and stop for a swim in the ocean. Helsingborg is a city with something for everyone, from nature experiences and history to the excitement of a modern city.

Day 6 Helsingborg – Landskrona - Ven: 26 km +12 km

It’s only 25 km from Helsingborg to Landskrona, but you’ll get to experience plenty along this section, before you take the ferry to the Island Ven. You’ll soon reach the little charming village and harbour Råå, then bike along the coast, before you bike the ”Glumslöv Hills” which is an enchanting hilly plateau that was formed by glaciers. It includes the Hilleshögs dalar (valleys) nature preserve,
which is definitely worth visiting. It is a bit uphill, but not that hard, and you get great views before an easy decent down down to Borstahusen, an idyllic fishing village founded in the 1770s. From Borstahusen you have very few km to the little city Landskrona which offers beautiful architecture and a wide range of cultural sights. At the centre of town is Citadellet, one of the best-preserved 16th century fortresses. The Ferry (30 minutes) will take you to the marvelous little Island Ven. Even if you bike around the entire Island in only 12 km, it is a very popular cycling and walking Island. You’ll overnight at a guesthouse or hotel on Ven. Note! Ven can be fully booked on
peak season. In case it is fully booked, you’ll stay in the Landskrona area.

Day 7 Ven - Landskrona – Malmö: 57 km (44 km)

After breakfast you take the ferry back to Landskrona. You’ll continue south along the coast and reach the little village of Barsebäckshamn, which is popular amongst boating enthusiasts and landlubbers, alike, and is well worth a visit to sit and enjoy the harbour inn for a while. There are plenty of good bathing locations on the way to Malmö. Stop at Lomma Beach or Långa bryggan in Bjärred, which extends 600 metres out into the sea. Here you can enjoy a delicious meal and take a swim. Just north of Malmö, you’ll find Spillepengen, a green area that contrasts with the city behind it. Its shallow sea waters are an important place for teeming flocks of birds to rest on their journey or spend the winter. You are now back in Malmö where you’ll spend the night. Possible to shorten to 44 km by taking the train from Lomma to Malmö.
